Richmondville- John M. Hotaling, 59, of Brooker Hollow Road, died Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at his residence following a long illness.
Mr. Hotaling was born December 2, 1946 in Cobleskill, the son of Alice (Nicholas) Hotaling and the late Donald Hotaling.
He was a lifelong area resident and graduated from the former Cobleskill Central School. Mr. Hotaling was employed 35 years for the United States Postal Service and retired from the Albany office. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving from 1966 until receiving an honorable discharge in 1969.
Mr. Hotaling enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also an avid NASCAR, Yankees, and Giants fan.
Survivors include 2 sons: James (Jamie) Hotaling of Richmondville, and Matthew Hotaling of Richmondville; his mother, Alice Hotaling of Cobleskill; 3 sisters: Sue (Bill) Trendell of Schoharie, Pat (Bob) Fink of Central Bridge, and Carol (Chris) Connelly of Sharon Springs; 2 brothers: David (Lisa) Hotaling of Waterford, and Richard Hotaling of Cobleskill; 3 grandsons: Michael Garcia, Daniel and Gregory Hotaling; a niece Shelley (Josh) Hundley, along with 9 other nieces and nephews, and a great-niece and great-nephew.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 28, 2006 at the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home 171 Elm Street Cobleskill. Officiating will be Rev. Carol Coltrain of the Huntersland United Methodist Church. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday. Burial will be private in the Cobleskill Rural Cemetery.
