John Haskin,

Cobleskill- John K. Haskin, Jr., 63, of VanDeusen Drive, died Friday, November 13, 2009 at his residence following a brief illness.

Born November 13, 1946 in Schenectady, he was a son of John K. and Margaret (McCormick) Haskin, Sr.

Mr. Haskin was a 1964 graduate of Middleburgh Central School and began employment at Middleburgh Hardware. Later he served as deputy for the Schoharie County Sheriff's Department. For the past ten years, Mr. Haskin was employed for the former Selkirk Hardware Store in Cobleskill and continued there when it was purchased as ACE Noble Hardware until September of this year.

Mr. Haskin was a resident of Middleburgh most of his life and moved to Cobleskill in 1991. He was a former member of the Middleburgh Volunteer Fire Department and the Middleburgh Rod & Gun Club.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Mescia-Haskin, whom he married June 14, 1992; two sons: Dean (Karen) Haskin of Warnerville and Ross (Kesha) Haskin of Breakabeen; two stepsons: Michael Mescia of Latham and Nicholas Mescia of Cobleskill; seven grandchildren: Robert Ostermann,Brandon MacMillan, Tyler Ostermann, Kayla Haskin, Zachary Haskin, Ryan Haskin, Tiffany Mescia.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009 at Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh. Officiating will be Rev. Jared VanWagenen IV. Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation at the funeral home from 12 to 2 PM on Sunday, prior to the service. Burial will follow at Keyserkill Cemetery.
