John Griffis

Florida- John D. Griffis, 60, of Merry Road, died unexpectedly on Thursday, October 30, 2008
at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany.
John was born April 20, 1948 in Manhattan, NY, the son of Clarence and Miriam (Taroni) Griffis.
Formerly of Lindenhurst, NY, John had been employed as a computer technologist for various banks, including EAB, Chase, NEC, Fleet, Bank of America, and most recently Key Bank in Corporate Woods, Albany, NY.
He was a man of many hobbies, some of which included amateur ham radio operator, a musician, especially on guitar, and had a strong interest in antique cars.
He was the beloved husband of Janet Griffis; father of, Julie and Jason Griffis, both of Carlisle; brother of: Margaret Sweetser-Flynn of West Islip, NY, Sarah Drouin of North Fort Myers, FL, Nancie Prisco of West Babylon, NY and Mary Morlock of Babylon, NY, and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Monday Nov. 3, at St. Vincent de Paul Church 138 Washington Ave. Cobleskill, NY with Father Thomas F. Holmes as celebrant. Friends are welcome to attend the Mass as well as visitation on Sunday from 4 to 7 PM at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home 171 Elm St. Cobleskill.
