Joan Mackenzie

Cobleskill- Joan E. Mackenzie, 93, of Mohawk Drive, died Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.

Born October 2, 1920 in Melbourne, Australia, she was the daughter of Rupert R. and Elizabeth H. (Tribe) Ellen.

Joan became a naturalized citizen before she married her husband, Robert Bruce Mackenzie, in 1945. He predeceased her in 1985, as did her two sons, Brian and Colin Mackenzie.

Joan retired from British Security Coordination in New York City, where she was a supervisor. She moved from Canada to Cobleskill in 1988. She was a member of the Cobleskill Public Library Chat 'n' Chew group as well as the Calvary Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include her two sons: Stephen (Laurie) Mackenzie of Summit and Kevin Lee (Diane Odegard) Mackenzie of Austin, TX, and two grandchildren: Dawn E. Mackenzie and Alexander J. Mackenzie.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St. Cobleskill with Rev. Ray Richards of the Calvary Assembly of God officiating. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home prior to the service from 5 to 6 PM.
