Joan Marion Johnson left this world on July 19, 2026, after living a full, comfortable, love-filled life for 87 years. Born in Schenectady on May 3, 1939, "in a snowstorm" to Leonard Reuss Sr and Edna Bentz Reuss. She was the sister to Leonard Reuss Jr.

On August 31, 1957, she married her best friend, partner in all things and the love of her life, Thomas G. Johnson Sr. One of their greatest achievements was to help start the Living Water Faith Fellowship Church in Oneonta, 42 years ago. Tom predeceased Joan on December 25, 2012.

Joan always wanted to live on the water. She and Tommy did so for many years on Goodyear Lake.

She worked early on as a telephone operator. After moving to Lawyersville from Schenectady, she worked as a cook at SUNY Cobleskill. Joan also worked as a cook at SUNY Oneonta, after moving to the lake, until retirement.

Another great achievement for Joan was raising her six children. She always said, "I had no idea what I was doing". Loved ones she leaves behind include her children - Thomas G. Johnson Jr (Sandy), Randall S. Johnson (April), Geoffrey R. Johnson (Steve), Steven A. Johnson (Tina), Pamela M. Jennings; grandchildren - Samantha (Glorimar), Matthew (Cristina), Denelle (Andrew), Randall Jr (Ashley), Christopher Jr, Michelle (Sean), Alicia, Katlyn (Casey), Tanner; many great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law, several nieces and nephews.

Joan has now been reunited with "Her Tommy" and their son, Christopher R. Johnson and her parents.

There will be no calling hours or services per the family's wishes. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
