Delmar- Joan F. Emmons, 76, formerly of Delmar, died Thursday, March 24, 2016, at Sweet Brook Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Williamstown, MA after a brief illness.
Joan was born October 24, 1939 in Albany and was the daughter of Bernard "Poppy" and Julia "Judy" (Dietz) Emmons.
She was a graduate of Bethlehem High School and retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield in Albany after many years of service.
Along with her parents, a sister, Anne Emmons Campbell, and a brother, Peter A. Emmons, predeceased Joan.
She is survived by five nephews: Thomas (Carol) Emmons of Holliston, MA, Christopher Campbell of Liverpool, David Emmons of Holliston, MA, John Campbell of Richmondville, and Rion Campbell of Latham; four nieces: Elizabeth (Phillips) Garfield Porcher of Charlotte, NC, Susan Campbell of Schenectady, Mary (Bill) Bonaparte of Holliston, MA, and Caroline (Greg) Warner of Richmondville; a sister-in-law, Mildred Emmons of Holliston, MA, as well as many cousins, grandnephews and grandnieces.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 138 Washington Ave., Cobleskill, with Rev. Matthew Wetsel of Our Lady of the Valley in Middleburgh as celebrant. There will be no public visitation. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery in Belfast, ME in the spring.
Memorials may be made in Joan's name to a charity of one's choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill and Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home of Middleburgh.
