Joan Betts

Clifton Park—Joan Lillian (Tauriello) Betts, 76, of Clifton Park, NY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY.

She was born on October 30, 1941, in Long Island City, NY and was the daughter of the late Gilbert Tauriello and Lillian (Nash) Tauriello.

She graduated from Cobleskill High School and worked for New York State Department of Environmental Conservation for over 30 years, retiring in 2001. After retiring, she dedicated her time to help raise her grandchildren with endless love.

She was the wife of the late Harold Ivan Betts, who predeceased her on January 17, 1993, with whom she shared  34 years of marriage. Joan and Harold were involved in many different activities, including stock car racing, salmon fishing, hunting, raising hunting dogs, as well as their participation with the Elks in Cobleskill, NY. Joan enjoyed reading, bingo, live theater, musicals, bowling, camping, spending time at her home in North Palm Beach, Florida, but most of all, her time with her family.

Joan was also predeceased by her daughter, Sandra Marie Betts, and her brother, Robert Gilbert Tauriello.

Cherishing many fond memories are her daughter, Allison Betts, of Clifton Park, NY; her grandchildren, Shelby (Andrew) Cole, of Lansingburgh, NY and Jose Espada of Clifton Park, NY; and great-grandchild, Theodore Cole.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM, on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill, with Rev. Shawn Foster officiating.  Interment will be at the Cobleskill Rural Cemetery following the service.
