Jill Alison Carpenter, 47, of Cobleskill, New York, passed away unexpectedly on January 17, 2026, from sudden health complications. A beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, Jill lived her life with an energy and warmth that illuminated every room she entered.
Born on September 4, 1978, in Port Jefferson, New York, Jill was the cherished daughter of Thomas and Thea Beagen. She grew up surrounded by love, laughter, and an early appreciation for the beauty of life's simple moments. Jill's strength, charisma, and unapologetic spirit made her someone people gravitated toward-beautiful, fierce, strong, boisterous and deeply caring.
Jill married the love of her life, Coles JW Carpenter, and together they created a home filled with laughter, adventure, and unconditional love. Of all her accomplishments, Jill was most proud of her son, Evan Thomas, whom she called the center of her world. She found endless joy in supporting him and celebrating every one of his milestones.
A true lover of life, Jill was happiest when surrounded by those she loved-traveling with friends and family, beach trips, paddleboarding, attending concerts (especially the Dave Matthews Band), and enjoying dinners out. She was always ready with thoughtful advice, a sharp wit, and a contagious laugh that could lift any spirit.
Jill is survived by her husband, Coles; her son, Evan; her parents, Thomas and Thea Beagen; and her sisters, Catherine (Robert) Felter and Margaret (Chad) Wilson, her niece, Eloise and nephews, Brayden and Grady. She leaves behind countless friends and loved ones whose lives she enriched beyond measure.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 5-7 pm. A celebration of Jill's life will be held on Saturday, January 24, at 11 a.m., both held at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley, PO Box 40, Howes Cave, NY 12092 or any local animal shelter- a cause close to Jill's heart.
