Richmondville- Jennifer B. Rice, 36, of Robert St., died Sunday, May 1, 2011 at her home with her loving family at her side.
Born January 2, 1975 in North Adams, MA, Jennifer is the daughter of Thomas and Marcia (Tanguay) Partenope.
She graduated from Drury High School in North Adams, MA in 1993, and entered the College of St. Rose in Albany graduating in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science degree with a dual certification in Elementary Education and Special Education. She then entered Graduate School at the University of Albany and in 1998 was awarded her Masters of Science degree in reading.
Jennifer was a Special Education teacher for Schenevus Central School District for 10 years and her compassion for teaching showed by her caring and well being of her students. Her passions included scrapbooking, playing her clarinet, organizing family events, hiking, and spending time with her family. A loving mother, her life revolved around her two beautiful children.
Survivors include her husband, Bryan J. Rice, whom she married August 29, 1998; two children: Michael and Amanda Rice, both of Richmondville; her parents: Thomas F. and Marcia Partenope of North Adams, MA; her sister: Colleen M. Partenope and her fiancé, Donald Frangello, Jr. of Pownal, VT; her maternal grandparents: Arthur J. and Doris Tanguay of North Adams, MA; her father and mother-in-law: John and Nancy Rice of Stamford, NY; two brother-in-laws: Derek (Marissa) Rice and their children, D.J. and Sebastian Rice of Liverpool, NY and Jared Rice of Stamford, NY; grandparents-in-law: Kenneth and Elsie Rockwell of Stamford, NY; and many Aunts, Uncles, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 PM (noon) on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at St. Vincent de Paul Church with Father Thomas F. Holmes and Father John Roos as celebrants. Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation to be held from 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 138 Washington Ave., Cobleskill, NY. Burial will be in Richmondville Rural Cemetery.
