Jennie Mae Schrom, 83, of Huntersland Rd., died Fri. Feb. 15, 2008 at her home, surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Schrom was born in Schoharie, NY on March 20, 1924 a daughter of the late Seneca and Ida (Parslow) Slater. She was a lifelong area resident. She was married to Harley Schrom on June 12, 1941. With her husband, she was known throughout the Middleburgh community for their unique transportation. 2 mules, named Jack and Jennie. At Christmas, Jennie and Harley dressed Jack as Rudolph, hitched him to a sleigh and rides were given to children of all ages. She was devoted to her family, enjoyed quilting and was proud of her Native American acestry. Mrs. Schrom was predeceased by her husband, Harley on Oct. 28, 1960 and by her children, Rose Marie Schrom-Wayman, Harley Roy Schrom and step-children, Alidia Schrom, Arthur and Kenneth Schrom.

A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Sat., Feb. 23,2008 at the North Blenheim United Methodist Church, State Route 30, North Blenheim, NY with Rev. Neil Irwin officiating. Cremation took place at the Vale Cemetery Crematorium, Schenectady. The Palmer & Shaylor Inc. Funeral Home Middleburgh and the Mereness- Putnam Funeral Home Cobleskill are assisting the family with the arrangements.
