Jean Yuhas

Jeannie E. Yuhas, 51 of Enders Ave., died Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at her home.

Ms. Yuhas was born on October 16, 1957 in Freeport, NY a daughter of Jean (Kurdt) Slater and Bernard S. Yuhas. She was a high school graduate and worked at Hannaford's in Guilderland as a Customer Service Representative. Ms. Yuhas lived in Altamont for many years before moving to Central Bridge. She was a longtime member of the Altamont Fire Dept., and was honored to be a Fireman of the Year. She enjoyed reading, gardening, computer based book games, cats, horses in her youth and was a huge Harry Potter fan. She also loved laughing, reminiscing, spending time with her family and friends and celebrating her annual 21st birthday.

Ms. Yuhas is survived by her son, Lee F.(Rachel)Empie, IV of Guilderland Center, NY, her mother, Jean Slater of Central Bridge, NY, her father, Bernard (Barbara) Yuhas of West Berne, NY, sisters, Cynthia Rupel of North Carolina, Diane Yuhas of Central Bridge, NY, Barbara (Lenny) Errico of West Babylon, NY, brothers, John Yuhas of Darby, MT, Barney Yuhas of Gallupville, NY, Thomas Yuhas of Hampton, VA.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 4-7pm, Tuesday, January 13, 2008 at the Gallupville House, State Route 443, Gallupville, NY. Cremation took place at Vale Crematory, Schenectady, NY. Memorials may be sent to the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley, Inc. PO Box 40, Central Bridge, NY 12092. The Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, Middleburgh, NY and the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, Cobleskill, NY are assisting the family with the arrangements.
