Central Bridge- Jean A. Slater, 80, died Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at her residence following a long illness.
Born August 25, 1932, in Amityville, she was a daughter of Henry and Irene (Palmer) Kurdt.
Jean retired as a long distance telephone operator for AT & T where she had worked for many years. She was a lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers.
In her spare time she enjoyed crafts, art, and photography.
Jean was predeceased by her husband, Carl H. Slater, who died in 2007, and her daughter, Jeannie Yuhas, who died in 2009.
Survivors include her children: John (Ellen) Yuhas of Darby, MT, Cynthia Rupel of Troy, NC, Bernard Yuhas of Gallupville, Diane Yuhas of Central Bridge, and Thomas (Flor) Yuhas of Hampton, VA; eight grandchildren: Lee (Rachel) Empie, Rachel Ratliff, Matthew Yuhas, Lydia Johnston, Maya Rodriguez, Caryn McNamana, and Megan Lightfoot; her siblings: Bonnie Brown of Missoula, MT, Richard (Catherine) Kurdt of East Islip, and Paula Bradley of Portland, OR.
A funeral service will be held at 5:30 PM on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at Schoharie Valley Alliance Church, State Route 145, Middleburgh. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the church prior to service on Wed., from 4:30 to 5:30 PM. Spring interment will be in Middleburgh Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh and Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill.
