Jean C. Mallery, 86, of Cobleskill, New York, passed away on July 13, 2020 at her home.
Jean was born in Silver Creek, New York. She was the daughter of John and Ruth Christy. She graduated Silver Creek High School in 1951and attended SUNY Cortland for her bachelor’s degree. Jean continued her higher education achieving her masters from SUNY Albany. Jean was a physical education teacher from 1958 until 1964.
Along with her parents, Jean was predeceased by her sister, Mary Louise Christy, brother, John Christy, and nieces, Jennifer Christy MacNeill and Rogina Haase Jeffries.
She is survived by her husband, of 57 years, Roger H. Mallery, her children R.J. Mallery (Diane), Susan J. Mallery (Steven Winegard), her grandchildren, Miranda and Mason Mallery, Cameron and Kelsey Mallery-Winegard, all of Cobleskill, and grandniece and grandnephew, Julia and Philip Jeffries of Boston, MA.
Jean was a long-time serving NY State Republican Committee Person, Schoharie County Republican Committee Person, and volunteer at the Cobleskill Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. In her leisure, Jean enjoyed raising her children and grandchildren, playing bridge, walking with her friends, reading, downhill ski racing and later cross-country skiing.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill.
