Jean Hurn

Richmondville- Jean Bailey Elliot Hurn, 72, of Main Street, died Monday, February 24, 2014 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown following a brief illness.

Born February 13, 1942 on Bear Gulch Road, Richmondville, Jean was the daughter to Leslie Bailey and Marion Oliver.

She married Donald Hurn, Sr., in 1958 in Millerton and he predeceased her, along with her son, Robert Hurn.

She was a licensed certified nurse's assistant and geriatric aid. Jean was also a member of the United Methodist Women and the Richmondville United Methodist Church.

Jean is the mother of: Donald Hurn, Jr., of Richmondville, Bonnie Sherman of Warnerville, Edward Hurn of Middleburgh and Barry Hurn of Schoharie; grandmother of: Shawn Hurn, Crystal Hurn, Zakkary Hurn, Glendon Hurn, Corey Hurn, Taylor Hurn and Jeremy Sherman, and Tahya and Jesse Hurn; great-grandmother of : Hunter and Hailey Sherman, Victoria Hurn, and Tucker and Emerson Hurn.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 28, 2014 at Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh where a calling hour will precede the service from 10 to 11AM. Officiating will be Rev. Jeffrey Smith of the Richmondville United Methodist Church. Spring interment will be in Middleburgh Cemetery.
