Janice Marion Armstrong Mau

Schoharie- On December 16, 2023, Janice completed her journey on earth and traveled on to her next destination to join her mother, Marion Armstrong; father, Harold Armstrong; sisters: Alice Karker and Joanne LaVallee; son-in-law, Ronald Chiafery and great-grandson, Wyatt Mistretta. She passed peacefully after a short illness.
Janice graduated from Mount Pleasant High School and then went on to graduate from Highland Hospital School of Nursing in Rochester in 1956. Then married the love of her life, Robert E. Mau, Sr. October 20, 1956. Together they had 5 children: Marianne Chiafery, Robert E Mau, Jr., Allison (Jeffery) Atkins, Peter Mau and Wendy (Alan) Herzog. She was the proud Grammy to 8 lovely young ladies and also 8 loving great-grandchildren.
Janice led an active and fulfilling life. As well as being a career registered nurse, she was an avid gardener. She was an excellent baker specifically known for her “Grammy rolls” and “Grammy cookies”. Her love of travel took her and her husband to destinations throughout the world. She was also very interested in her ancestry as a genealogist. Sewing and quilting were special talents as well and her family members will treasure forever the unique quilts she crafted for them.
All are welcome for a visitation to be held from 12PM to2PM on Friday, December 22, 2203 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill, NY, At 2PM the Otsego-Schoharie-Delaware Nurses Honor Guard will have a prayer service along with the family eulogies.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis TN 38105.
