Cobleskill- Janice Marie English, 86, of N. Grand Street, Cobleskill, New York died Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Albany Medical Center, following a sudden illness.
Born on January 24, 1938, in Schenectady, NY, she was the daughter of William Arthur Slider and Esther Marie Linstead Slider. She attended school in Schenectady and spent most of her life in the Cobleskill area
.
Janice retired from SUNY Cobleskill, where she worked as a cleaner. She was a cleaner for various other businesses in Cobleskill, even in her retirement. In addition to her work outside the home, she was also a mother and homemaker.
She had a love for cats, country music, and shopping. Janice enjoyed catching up with members of the community at Stewart’s. She also liked long car rides in the country.
Janice was predeceased by her husband, Glenn English; son, David Allen English; and daughter, Debra Ann Cooper.
She is survived by her children, Diane and Roger Filmer of Cobleskill, NY, Donald Wayne English of Richmondville, NY, Darryl Glenn English of Johnstown, NY, Darlene Ann Pease of Richmondville, NY; brothers, Lee A. Slider of Deming, New Mexico, Robert B. and Nancy Slider of Cobleskill, NY; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graveside service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill, NY 12043.
