James Doyle

Middleburgh- James W. Doyle, 87, of Clauverwie, died Thursday, November 14, 2013 at his residence following a long illness.

Born July 21, 1927 in Flushing, he was the son of William and Mary Elizabeth (Golden) Doyle. Jim received his high school education in Brooklyn and continued at New York University.

He was a United States Navy Veteran, proudly serving his country from 1944 until receiving an honorable discharge in 1946.

His career as a Flight Operations Analyst began with New York Airways at the LaGuardia Field in NY City, and included Flying Tigers in Los Angeles, CA, and Federal Express in Germantown, TN.

He married Elizabeth Laffan on April 24, 1954 and resided in Huntington, NY, moving to Bayside, Middleburgh, Northport, Torrance, CA, Memphis, TN, and back to Middleburgh. While living in this area years ago, he and his wife operated the former Twin Brooks Nursery in Middleburgh.

Jim was a devoted communicant of St. Joseph's Novitiate in Round Top, NY. He had been a member of the K of C in Germantown, TN and Bayside, NY

He was predeceased by his son, Terence Doyle, who died Feb. 6, 2013, and his sister and brother-in-law: Maureen and Robert Laffan.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-nine years: Elizabeth Doyle; five children: Doreen (James) Buzon of Middleburgh, Brian (Jacqueline) Doyle of Quincy, MA, Sean (Cynthia Col) Doyle of Watertown, MA, Kevin Doyle of Middleburgh, and Grace (Larry) Fritzen of San Jose, CA; nine grandchildren: Rebecca Buzon of Albany, James Buzon of Middleburgh, Laura Buzon of Albany, Marian Buzon of Moscow, Idaho, Christopher Doyle of Ewing, NJ, Zoe Doyle of Watertown, Kyle Fritzen, Casey Fritzen, and Kendra Fritzen all of San Jose, CA; and his three in-laws: John C. Laffan of Campbell, CA, Doris M. Laffan of Derry, NH, and Grace Kimball of Camillus, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 18, 2013 at St. Joseph's Navitiate, 12 75 Hearts Content Rd., Round Top, NY with Father Curatolo as celebrant. Burial will follow with military honors in Middleburgh Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation to be held on Sunday from 4 to 6 PM at Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh.
