James Alan Cooper, Sr., 66, of Kings Lane, Cobleskill, New York died Tuesday, September 9, 2026, at his home, surrounded by family.
Born on November 27, 1959, in Cobleskill, NY, he was the son of Willard Cooper, Sr. and Lillian Taber Cooper. He attended Cobleskill schools and was a lifelong resident of the Cobleskill area.
James worked for Lancaster Development in Richmondville.
He was an avid deer hunter. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, camping, and spending time with family. He loved to cook and bake. If you left his home hungry, that was your own fault, because James enjoyed providing food to others.
James was predeceased by his parents and brothers, David Cooper, Howie and Betty Cooper.
He is survived by his love, Nina Wayman; children, Angie Cooper, James Cooper, Jr., Tara Wayman Leveski, Chantal Wayman, Rosa Cooper, Janessa Cooper, Jayden Cooper; siblings, Richard Cooper of Summit, NY, Willard and Lyn Cooper of Niskayuna, NY, Margaret and Roger Cusano of Rotterdam, NY, Betty Keyser of Middleburgh, NY, Carol White of Charloteville, NY, Cliff and Tina Cooper of Cobleskill, NY; 8 grandchildren; and several nieces, and nephews. He was very loved and will be very missed.
A graveside service will be held at Lawyersville Cemetery at a later date.
