James Brown

Breakabeen- James R. Brown, 66, of Nelson Lane, died unexpectedly Thursday, April 7, 2016 at his home.

Jim was born in Schenectady on January 1, 1950 to Elizabeth (Crapser) and Roger J. Brown.

He served in the United States Army from 1970 to 1973 and then in the Reserves until 1996.
Jim worked as a resident assistant with Schoharie County ARC in Schoharie.

He was a 20-year member of the West Fulton Fire Department and taught Defensive Driving classes for over 20 years.

Jim enjoyed tinkering, riding his tractor and ATV, and most of all he enjoyed his granddaughters.

He is survived by his wife: Addie M. (Nelson) Brown of Breakabeen, whom he married on June 12, 1976; daughter: Sue (Eric) Dahlberg of Conesville; sons: Jeremy (Jennifer) Brown of Breakabeen, James Purcell of West Patterson, NJ; granddaughters: Hannah Brown, Blakely Brown, Katelynne Schuttig, Abby Purcell; aunt: Helen (Frank) Fuller of Cobleskill.

A funeral service will be held at 12PM on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh, with Rev. Neil Irwin officiating. A period of visitation will be held from 11AM-12PM at the funeral home, prior to the service. Burial will take place in Breakabeen Cemetery, Breakabeen, NY.

The family requests memorial contributions be sent to the West Fulton Fire Department, PO Box 42, West Fulton, NY 12194.
