Cobleskill- Mrs. Jacqueline "Jackie" Churchill, 67, of Elm Street, died Sunday, December 7, 2008 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown following a short illness.

Jackie was born on March 4, 1941 in Batavia, NY, the daughter of Todd and Dorothy (Will) Coward. She grew up in the Syracuse area, graduating from Cazenovia High School in 1959. She received an AAS degree from SUNY Cobleskill and was a nursery school co-owner and teacher in Albany. This was followed by positions with Travelers Insurance Co., the Cobleskill Motel and the Cobleskill Community Hospital Auxiliary.

Jackie began her public service career in the Admissions Office at SUNY Cobleskill in 1974 and while working, obtained her B.S. degree from Empire State College and completed numerous graduate courses at SUNY Oneonta. She was promoted to a management position in the Personnel Office and retired as Director of Human Resources in 1995.

In 1980, Jackie married Richard Churchill. After retiring they spent their winters in Venice, FL.

Mrs. Churchill has been an active volunteer for Cobleskill Regional Hospital and Hospice in both Cobleskill and Florida. She has sung in various community choirs, enjoyed genealogy, swimming, and playing Bridge. Jackie was an enthusiastic golfer and tennis player.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Churchill of Cobleskill, her brother and sister-in-law, Todd and Lynne Coward of Portland, OR; a nephew, Christopher Coward, and a grand-niece, Monica Coward of Seattle, WA.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, December 11, 2008 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home 171 Elm St. Cobleskill. Friends are also invited for visitation from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Private burial will be in Grandview Cemetery, Batavia, NY.
