Middleburgh- Isabelle C. Clapper, 85, of Cliff Street, died Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Cobleskill Regional Hospital.
Born April 12, 1928 in Queens, she was a daughter of Earl and Charlotte (Schayfe) Sparrow. Isabelle was a lifelong area resident graduating from Middleburgh Central School in 1946.
She married Robert Peek in June 1946 and he predeceased her on Feb. 13, 1959. Isabelle held various jobs in the community, including waitressing, before she became a cafeteria aid. She then enjoyed the pleasures of raising her family. She played on the local girls' softball team, loved to roller skate, sing, and whistle.
Isabelle was active in the neighborhood, volunteering for the American Heart and Cancer drives. She was of protestant faith.
Survivors include her husband, Franklin C. Clapper, whom she married June 1, 1967; her children: Robert J. (Victoria) Peek of Middleburgh, David A. (Mary) Peek of Guilderland, Franklin C. (Dorothy) Clapper, Jr. of Gilboa, Phillip Clapper of Jordanville, Kevin (Katherine) Clapper of Binghamton, P. Jeannie Hawkins of Richfield Springs; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh with Rev. Jeffrey Kelley of the Middleburgh Reformed Church officiating. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home prior to the service, from 10 to 11 AM. Burial will be in Gilboa Cemetery.
