Prattsville- Isaac A. "Ike" McMillen, 68, of Moores Park, died Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown, following a brief illness.
Born August 29, 1942 in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Clifford A. and Ervilla (Armlin) McMillen.
Ike graduated from Middleburgh Central School. He was employed with the Carpenters Local 370 of Albany, NY and had worked at the New York Power Authority in Gilboa. He had also been a millwright for the power project in Athens, NY.
Ike was a United States Navy veteran, proudly serving his country in Vietnam. He was a seabee and was decorated with a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Action Ribbon and Purple Heart. Ike received an honorable discharge after two years of active service and four years in the Naval Reserve. He was a life member of the Grand Gorge American Legion.
Ike was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Ellen Dubois of Prattsville.
Survivors include his companion of forty-one years, Patricia Smith of Prattsville; his four children: Corey McMillen and Cherie McMillen, both of Richmondville, Shelley Bell of Roxbury and Daryl Smith of Prattsville; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and he was "PopPop" to granddaughters, Miranda Briggs and Brittney Bell.
Private services will be held with military honors. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
