Irene Tillapaugh

Cobleskill- Mrs. Irene J. Tillapaugh, 92, of North Grand Street, died Saturday, October 21, 2006 at her home.
She was born July 11, 1914 in Carlisle, the daughter of Adam and Angie (Becker) Mickel.
Mrs. Tillapaugh was a 1931 graduate of the former Cobleskill High School and she attended the former Albany Teachers College.
In 1934 she married Leonard Tillapaugh of Carlisle and he died April 11, 1976.
She was a member of the Carlisle Presbyterian Church, Carlisle Senior Citizens, and former Seward Valley Grange. She was also a charter member of the Women's Auxiliary of Community Hospital of Schoharie County and was a 4-H leader for a number of years.
She is survived by 3 children: Ruth Slater and companion, Tony Purpura of Dolgeville, Joan (Albert) Simard of Ticonderoga, and Allan (Nancy) Tillapaugh of Carlisle. She was predeceased by 2 daughters, Evelyn Arnold and Anne Broadwell, and a brother, George Mickel.
She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and a nephew.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home 171 Elm Street Cobleskill with Rev. Bert Mayne of Carlisle Presbyterian Church officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11
AM at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will follow at Carlisle Rural Cemetery.
