Richmondville- Ilse Palmer, 84, of Beards Hollow Road, died Tuesday, August 12, at her home surrounded by family.
Mrs. Palmer was born December 7, 1923 in Hanover, Germany, the daughter of John and Frida Schmidt. She came to the United States when she was 1 year old and grew up in Long Island. She graduated from St. Luke's Hospital in New York City. Mrs. Palmer worked at Ellis Hospital and later was instrumental in helping establish the Community Hospital of Schoharie County, where she worked as supervisor of the operating room and served on the nursing board.
Ilse married Stanley Palmer, Sr., on September 14, 1946, and they owned and operated the Stan-Pal Farm since 1952. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Richmondville for over 50 years.
Survivors include four daughters, Patricia Sanford of Walton, NY, Nancy Cornell of Spring Valley, MN, Mary Palmer of Richmondville, NY, and Kathleen Robinson of Homer, AK; a son, Stanley Palmer, Jr. of Richmondville, NY. She also had 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at 1 PM on Monday, August 18, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Gary Edmister officiating.
