Ilene Sichart

Cobleskill- Ilene Campbell Sichart, 81, formerly of Cobleskill, entered into eternal rest and peace on Sunday, May 5, 2013 in the arms of the good Lord at Palatine Bridge Nursing Home where she had been a resident for the past six years.

Ilene was born February 12, 1932 in the Town of Broome on East Hill near Middleburgh, daughter of the late Virtil E. Campbell and Florence (Conklin) Campbell Briggs. She graduated from Middleburgh Central School as Salutatorian of the Class of 1950.

On March 3, 1951, she married her husband of twenty-five years, Karl J. Sichart.

Mrs. Sichart was employed by Fenimore Fabrics as an office worker from 1964 to 1974 when she continued her employment with the Putnam family as they founded the business of Fenimore Asset Management. She retired from full-time employment as the Corporate Secretary in 1994 and part-time office employment in 2005.

She became a member of the Lawyersville Reformed Church in 1962, having taught Sunday school classes, served as organist, director of the Junior Choir, and was a member of the Adult Choir for over forty years. In later years, she also directed the Adult Choir.

Ilene was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Bennett Campbell, her husband, Karl, son-in-law, Mark Mickel, and two step-brothers: Harvey and Raymond Briggs.

Mrs. Sichart is survived by four beloved daughters: Maryle Herkimer of Raleigh, NC, Cindy Cary (Brian Palmer of Scotia) of Cobleskill, Darcene (Paul) Stoddard of Central Bridge, Cheryl Mickel of Warnerville; five cherished grandchildren: April Cary of Brooklyn, Bridget (Jason) Rocco of Johnstown, Adam Stoddard of Phoenix, AZ, Ashley Mickel of Clearwater, FL, and Derek Mickel of Cobleskill; one great-grandson: Carmine Rocco; one sister: Leta Engle of Schoharie; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 9:30 AM on Friday, May 10, 2013 at Lawyersville Reformed Church, 4957 State Route 145, Cobleskill, with Vena Ray officiating. Burial will follow in Middleburgh Cemetery. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill.
