Ida Mae Cross Cummings, 94, of State Route 145 died Sunday, December 28, 2008 at her home.
Mrs. Cummings was born in the Town of Lexington, NY, on June 3, 1914 a daughter of the late Anna Mae (Patterson) and Alvah Henry Cross and she graduated from Grand Gorge Central School. She married Lawrence "Happy" Cummings on September 23, 1933 and was a devoted housewife, homemaker and farmer. She had lived in the Middleburgh area since 1944. She enjoyed quilting, traveling and will be remembered for her smile, her longevity and her faith.
Mrs. Cummings was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence "Happy" Cummings, her son, Lawrence Cummings, Sr., granddaughter, Margaret Cummings, grandson, David Cummings and by her sister, Frances Vining.
She is survived by her son, Edward Cummings of Carlisle, NY, daughter Anne (Sal) Fringo of Middleburgh, NY, daughter-in-law, Lucy Cummings, grandchildren, Debra (Merrit) Jackson, Lawrence (Helen) Cummings, Jr., Bruce Cummings, Elaine (Michael) Diamond, all of Middleburgh, NY, Edward Cummings and families of Schoharie, NY, William (Alice) Cummings of Schenectady, NY, Kevin (Peggy) Cummings of Panama City, FL., brothers, Paul Cross of Florida, Raymond Cross of Georgia, sister, Leah Lobdell of Worcester, NY and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, January 2, 2009 at the Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh, NY. Rev. Joseph Bokel, Hospice Chaplain will officiate. Spring interment will be in the Breakabeen Cemetery, Breakabeen, NY. Friends are invited to call from 11:00am-1:00pm, Friday, at the funeral home, prior to the service.
