Mr. Howard Mickle, 81, of Grove St., died Monday May 4, 2009 at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady, NY following a long illness.
Mr. Mickle was born on April 24, 1928 in the Town of Fulton, NY a son of the late Grace (VanBuren) and Howard Mickle. He worked as a meat cutter at the Scotia Naval Depot for 33 years before retiring. Mr. Mickle was a member of the Middleburgh United Methodist Church, the Middleburgh Rod and Gun Club and the former Middleburgh Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and refurbishing and selling appliances. Mr. Mickle was a devout supporter of the American Lung, Heart and Cancer Societies and also the Disabled American Veterans.
He was predeceased in 1998 by his wife of 49 years, Elsie M. (Schermerhorn) Mickle. He is survived by his daughter, Bonita R. Mickle and son Terry G. (Doralee) Mickle, all of Middleburgh, NY and granddaughter, "the apple of his eye," Jamie Mickle of Esperance, NY, his sister, Mary (Edward) Pavlic of Schenectady, NY several nieces and nephews and his cherished cat, Tuffie and dog Peaches.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm, Thursday, May 7, 2009 in the Middleburgh Cemetery. Pastor Richard Owens of the Pilgrim Holiness Church will officiate.
