Hilda VanVoris

Cobleskill- Hilda I. VanVoris, 82, of Morgan Drive, died unexpectedly on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at Ellis hospital.

Born March 29, 1937 in Cooperstown, she was the daughter of the late Earl F. and Cecilia (Dickierson) VanVoris.  Hilda was a graduate of the former Richmondville Central School, class of 1955.

Her working career began with Dr. Konta in Cobleskill which influenced her decision to attend Mildred Elly School of Business.  Upon completion, she was employed for Metropolitan Life Insurance and later Ruby Myers Insurance Company.  Hilda retired after almost 30 years of employment as Senior Underwriter and Supervisor at Sterling Insurance Company.

She attended Bramanville United Methodist Church.  Hilda loved to travel with her good friend, Joan Diamond and enjoyed camping at Belvedere Lake.

She is survived by her beloved adopted family:  Viola Beilby, Pete Beilby, Ronald Beilby, Joan Goodrich, Brian Goodrich, Calvin Goodrich, Julie Goodrich, Natalie Goodrich, Lynn Pollitt, Joel Denza, Sean Nikolaus, Jennifer Persons, Garrett Persons; her wonderful friend and travel companion, Joan Diamond; her cherished friends from Sterling Insurance, and many others.  Hilda was loved by all.

A period of visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 from 9AM to 11 AM at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill where a memorial service will immediately follow at 11 AM.  Rev. Mary Ellen Moore, of the Bramanville United Methodist Church, will officiate.  Inurnment will follow in Cobleskill Rural Cemetery followed by a gathering at the Cobleskill Eagles Lodge.
