Summit- Herbert A. Brown, 85, of State Route 10, died Monday, February 16, 2015 at Robinson Terrace Nursing Home in Stamford after a long tough battle with cancer and is finally at peace. His loving wife was at his side holding one hand and his daughter Sandi was holding the other when he passed to see God.
Born September 21, 1929 in Huntington, NY, he was the son of Albert and Edna (Smith) Brown.
His family was first and foremost to him. He loved to play golf, hunt, fish and horses. Herbert was a member of the Summit Rescue Squad as a driver and an EMT, The Christian Men's Club, The Summit Seniors Group, The Huntington Angler's Club and was a United States Marine Veteran, serving from 1952 until receiving an honorable discharge in 1954.
He was predeceased by his parents, 2 Brothers, and 3 Grandsons.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marguerite(Davidson) Brown of Summit; his children, Lynda, Laurie (Jim), Sandie, Peadar (Lynn); his Grandchildren, Melissa (Chris), Jessie (Joey), Eric (Kelley), Brian (Moria), Nikki, Jason (Courtrney), Justin (Brandy), Kerrie (Jim), Patrick, Shannon (Chris), Samantha; and his Great Grandchildren, Autumn, Kay Lyne, Addison, Bella, Tessa, Tobias, Tucker, Jocelyn, Elijah, Kyle, Chris Jr., , Charlotte Grace (Due in June); and one sister, Alice (Chick) Koelman.
A private service will be held at the family's convenience. Memorial contributions may be made to the Summit Volunteer Rescue Squad, PO Box 296, Summit, NY 12157.
