Middleburgh- Helene Trautwein Priester Spickerman, 89, of MTP Path, died Monday, August 27, 2012, at Cobleskill Regional Hospital following a brief illness.

Born January 27, 1923 in Saratoga Springs, she was the daughter of Jacob E. and Helene (Trautwein) Priester.

Helene was a graduate of Albany Business School and had attended Russell Sage College.

For over twenty years she was a bookkeeper at Bush Lumber Company in Middleburgh. Helene was a member of the Middleburgh Reformed Church for over sixty-five years and was a past vice-president of the Cobleskill Hospital Auxiliary.

Helene's talents allowed her to make beautiful quilts. She also enjoyed sewing, playing the piano, and baking cookies, especially for her grandchildren. Her family meant the world to her.

She married Robert N. Spickerman on July 6, 1946 and he predeceased her in April of 2007. She was also predeceased by her parents and her brother, John Jacob Priester.

Survivors include her two daughters: Nancy (Wayne) Baylor of Ottawa, KS and their children: Steve (Julie) Baylor of Culver City, CA, Holly (Paul) Shepard of Poulsbo, WA, Susan (Ben) Fox of So Riding, VA, and Kristen (Kurt) Thompson of St. Louis, MO; and Donna Greenawald of Middleburgh and her children: Gordy Greenawald of Apple Valley, MN and Todd (Cora) Greenawald of St. Paul, MN; great-grandchildren: Jackson, Scarlett and Madeline Fox, Fischer and Seaton Thompson, Elliot and Lillian Greenawald, Joe (Chris) Rice Shepard, Suzanne Shepard, Michael (Lucia) Shepard, Jade and Joy Clark-Wilson; great-great-grandchildren: Roman and Isabella Rice-Shepard and Adam Fowler; her brother Russell (Marian) Priester of Saratoga and several nieces, and nephews scattered all over the country.

We praise God for the reunion that is going on in Heaven- Mom and Dad together again!

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012 at the Middleburgh Reformed Church with Rev. Jeffrey Kelley officiating. A reception will follow the service in the fellowship hall.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Middleburgh Reformed Church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh and Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill.
