Helena Myers

COBLESKILL (Mineral Springs)- Helena S. Myers, 102, formerly of Mineral Springs, and most recently of Van Aller Adult Home in Schoharie, died Friday, March 20, 2009 at Cobleskill Regional Hospital in Cobleskill after a brief illness.

Mrs. Myers was born May 16, 1906 in Mineral Springs, NY and was the daughter of George A. and Mary (Lape) Smith.

She was the co-owner and operated the Swissland Farm on Mineral Springs Road until its sale in 1971. Prior to that and after her marriage, she lived on Myerbrae Farm in Barnerville, NY until 1946. She was a member of the Mineral Springs United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, the former Community Hospital of Schoharie County Auxiliary Amethyst Unit, Committee member of the New York State Artificial Breeders Association, and also attended the Wesleyan Church in Cobleskill.

Mrs. Myers was predeceased by her husband, Donald Myers, whom she married in 1927 and died in 1969.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary Jane Myers, and a son, Maynard S. Myers, both of Mineral Springs, NY.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 23, 2009 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill, NY, with Rev. Donald Klob of the Wesleyan Church and Lay Speaker Michael Gebhard of the Mineral Springs United Methodist Church co-officiating. Calling hours will be held Sunday, March 22, 2009 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cobleskill Rural Cemetery.
