Cobleskill- Helen C. Warner, 87, formerly of Cobleskill, died Thursday, July 27, 2023 at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center in Schenectady where she has been a resident for the past few months.
Born July 20, 1936 in Gilboa, she was the daughter of Lloyd and Fannie (Tompkins) Spaulding. Helen was a lifetime resident of Schoharie County and was a proud farm girl who loved to play sports growing up.
She was a teacher's aide for twenty-three years with the former Cobleskill Central School District. Helen was an avid golfer and long time member of the Cobleskill Country Club where she played in various leagues. Helen also enjoyed gardening, shopping and baking chocolate jumbos with her grandkids and great-grandchildren. Helen especially enjoyed her years of retirement with her husband, Sam, traveling the country in their RV making many wonderful friends and memories along the way.
Helen was predeceased by her first husband, Al Collins, her son and daughter-in-law, Jeffery E. and Sandra Collins, brothers: Clinton (Beatrice), Charles, Roy (Nancy) Spaulding and sisters, Jessie Cole and Marie (Milton) Stanton and brother-in-law, George Mann
Her memories will be forever cherished by her husband, Samuel T. Warner II whom she married April 1981: her children: Robin (Jerry) Hahn of Cobleskill, Mark R. Collins of Chickamauga, GA, Sara (Santo) Barretta of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Samuel T. (Lisa) Warner, III of Greenville, SC and Susann Warner (David) McKinley of East Amherst, NY. Helen and Sam’s union blended two families that affectionately came to be known as the “Brady Bunch.” Helen is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Brianne H. (Philip) Slater, Owen M. Hahn, Mark R Collins, Jr., Andrea (Michael) Hipwell, Michael (Kathy) Los, Caitlyn (CJ) Warner, Marissa Warner, Sydney McKinley and Kiefer McKinley; and 5 great-grandchildren: Chase Slater, Cole, Lucas, Mason and Dylan Hipwell. Helen is also survived by her sister, Martha Mann of Queensbury, NY; sisters-in-laws, Ginny Colins of FL, Arlene Spaulding of FL and brother-in-law, Robert Cole of Stone Ridge, NY and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service that will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, August, 1, 2023 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill with Robert Stark as officiant, The public is welcome to a period of visitation that will take place at the funeral home prior to the service, from 10AM to 11AM. Private burial will be in Old Stone Fort Cemetery, Schoharie.
