Helen Rivenburgh

Middleburgh- Helen B. Rivenburgh, 88, of Locust Grove Lane, died Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at home, surrounded by her family.

Helen was born in Altamont on June 11, 1928 to Ada Mae (Countryman) and Orville J. Van Buren.

Helen was a devoted homemaker. Her kind, loving and generous spirit shone through the care and compassion she gave to many children and loved ones over the years.

Helen enjoyed reading, taking rides in the country and animals, especially cats.

She was predeceased by her husband: Douglas Rivenburgh; son: Michael Rivenburgh; brothers: Ralph, Jesse, Harold and Herman Van Buren.

Helen is survived by her daughters: Marilyn Hook of Middleburgh, Christal (Ward) Martin of Schoharie; sons: John (Starleen) Wood of Middleburgh, Brian (Alice) Rivenburgh of Middleburgh; sisters: Viola Laddock of Berne, Shirley Pendergast of Altamont, Judy Kolanchick of Guilderland; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday, December 5, 2016 at the Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River Street, Middleburgh, with Rev. Carol Coltrain of the Huntersland United Methodist Church officiating. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home from 6:00 - 7:00PM prior to the service.
