Mrs. Helen M. Maxam, 88, died Wednesday May 20, 2009 at her home with her family by her side.
Mrs. Maxam was born in Toronto, Canada, a daughter of the late Margaret (Storrie) and Henry Kivall. A graduate of the Sherrill School District, she attended the Utica School of Commerce and Mohawk Valley Community College. She was employed as an account clerk at Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome, NY. She resided in Westmoreland and Stanwix Heights, NY and in retirement, Niceville, Fl. before moving to Middleburgh in 1995. Mrs. Maxam was predeceased by a son, James.
She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Milo F. Maxam, daughter; Suzanne Spear of Latham, NY, son; Bruce (Bonnie) Maxam of Severna Park, MD, granddaughter; Kathleen (Thomas) Higgins of Wichita, KS, grandson; James (Jennifer) Maxam of Denver, CO, five great-grandchildren and daughter-in-law; Patricia Maxam Lee of Texas.
Her family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Caroline Gomez-DiCesare, for her special medical care and consideration for Helen and also to the many neighbors who gave the gift of their friendship.
There will be no funeral services or calling hours. Private inurnment will be held in the Westmoreland Union Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Cremation took place at Vale Crematory, Schenectady, NY.
