Helen Leonard Kilquist, 101, of Hartford died Tuesday, February 18, 2014. Born in Farmingdale, NY, she was the daughter of Mabel (Hall) and George E. Kilquist.
Helen, a lifelong learner, graduated from Cornell University in 1933, Hartford Seminary in 1956, and received her Masters of Science from the University of Hartford in 1980. She resided in Hartford for the past 59 years.
Helen was a member of Christ Church Cathedral, the American Association of University Women, and the Hartford Hospital Auxiliary. Helen enjoyed ballroom dancing lessons and competitions.
Helen was predeceased by her parents, sister, Grace Kilquist Lent, and brother, George William Kilquist. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Nancy Lockwood of Whitefield, N.H.; her nieces: Jean Kilquist of Joplin, MO, Lavina (Roger) Maykut of Whitefield, N.H., Wendy (Russell) Thatcher of Topsfield, MA; several great-nieces and nephews: Catherine, Israel, Marianne, Lavina Jean, Erica, and Robert; and great-great-nieces and nephews: Abigail, Harper, Jacob, and Myna.
A graveside celebration of life will be held in the Cobleskill Rural Cemetery, Cobleskill, NY at a later date.
