Harold J. Buddle

June 9, 1932 — August 9, 2023

Harold (Hal) Buddle, son of Florence and James Buddle, passed away peacefully at the Shaker Place nursing home on the evening of 8/9/23, he was 91.
Hal grew up on a farm in Montgomery County and graduated from Canajoharie High School. While in school, Hal played baseball, basketball, and soccer. Hal spent some time working for the Beach Nut in Canajoharie and also worked as a mechanic for a garage in Ames, NY. In 1952 Hal entered the United States Navy and served aboard the aircraft carrier the Intrepid (Known as the Fighting “I”). Hal was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1956 with a rank of electrician’s mate 3rd class. After the Navy, Hal attended SUNY Brockport and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in physical education. Hal then embarked on a thirty-two-year career of teaching and coaching. He started his career in the public school system and ending his career at SUNY Cobleskill, where he coached Men’s Basketball and Women’s Tennis. After retiring from teaching, Hal went to work full time for Wade Tours in Schenectady, where he drove tour buses to many areas of the eastern U.S. and Canada. Hal worked for Wade Tours for nearly another fifteen years before finally retiring.
Hal always made sure his family had what they needed, no matter how much extra work or sacrifice it took. This included driving tractor trailer on weekends and holidays, working jobs excavating, and finally as a tour bus driver. It was only due to his tremendous personal sacrifice that his family never had to go without the essential things they needed.
Anyone who knew Hal would describe him as a good, decent, and kind man. Always willing to help those who needed a hand and always up for a good conversation.
Hal is survived by his wife of 65 years, Beverly Buddle, who currently resides at Coburg Village, in Rexford, New York. Hal is also survived by his son Mark Buddle who currently resides in Schenectady.
Services are private for the family with no public viewing or funeral service. Burial will be private at Evergreen Cemetery in Fonda, NY
