Broome- Mrs. Gurtrude C. Porter, 92, of Stone Store Road, died Thursday, April 19, 2007 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown.
Mrs. Porter was born September 30, 1914 in the Town of Broome, the son of Burton and Alice (Warner) Proper.
She was a lifelong area resident and had been a housekeeper at the Livingstonville Hotel.
Mrs. Porter had also been a cook, bartender, and housekeeper at the Parrott House in Schoharie.
She was predeceased by her husband, Howard M. Porter, who died Dec. 4, 1969 and two sisters, Agnes Hallenebeck and Doris Cantine, both of Livingstonville.
Survivors include a son, Howard B. Porter, of Middleburgh; 4 grandchildren: Tina McKissick of Jefferson, Jennifer Warner of Gilboa, Howard T. Porter of Grand Gorge and Robert Porter of Central Bridge; 10 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, April 22, 2007 at Palmer & Shaylor, Inc Funeral Home 134 River St. Middleburgh with Rev. Carol Coltrain of the Huntersland United Methodist Church officiating. Friends may call from 12:00PM to 1:00 PM on Sunday, prior to the service. Burial will be in Keyserkill Cemetery.
