Cobleskill- Grover G. Noxon, Sr., 88, of Cobleskill, died Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Robinson Terrace Nursing Home in Stamford, NY.
Born September 15, 1924 in the Town of Fulton, Schoharie County , he was the son of Harry and Martha (Swart) Noxon.
Grover proudly served his country as a US Navy Seabee from 1943 until receiving and honorable discharge in 1946. Following his discharge, he returned home and became employed as a mechanic at Orange Motors in Albany. Later Grover was a mechanic for NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation from which he retired.
In his younger years, he enjoyed playing in LeRoy's Valley Ramblers Country Band. Throughout his life, Grover found pleasure in his hobbies of woodworking and craft projects.
Survivors include his wife, Marie I. (Collins) Noxon, whom he married Nov. 21, 1943; his daughter: Sharon (Ron) Becker of Middleburgh; two sons: Grover "Skip" (Carol) Noxon, Jr. of Schoharie and Richard Noxon of Madison Heights, VA; a sister: Margaret Lawson of Winstead, CT; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
At the family's request, there will be no formal services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Middleburgh VFW Post 2161, care of Roger Becker, 168 Prospect St., Middleburgh, NY 12122.
