Middleburgh- Grace Slifer, 97, formerly of Middleburgh, died Thursday, October 22, 2015, at the River Ridge Living Center in Amsterdam, where she had resided since 2007.
Grace was born on September 20, 1918 in Jamaica, NY to Dorothy (Lauterbach) and John Achenbach.
She was a homemaker and loved cats, tending to her vegetable gardens, crocheting, making puzzles, fishing, and enjoyed trips to the casinos, scratch off tickets and playing her numbers.
Grace moved to Middleburgh in 1999, from Queens, to be closer to her family.
She was of Catholic faith and attended Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Middleburgh.
Grace was predeceased by her husband: Vernon Slifer in 1993 and her son: Edward R. Wrigley, Sr. in 1996.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law: Carol Wrigley of Murrells Inlet, SC; grandchildren: Denise A. (Fred) Foland of Middleburgh, Edward R. (Ricki) Wrigley, Jr. of Middleburgh, Richard J. Wrigley of Breakabeen; and eight great-grandchildren
Services will be held privately, at the family's convenience. Inurnment will take place in Middleburgh Cemetery.
