Middleburgh- Grace D. Lloyd, 84, formerly of Middleburgh and the Town of Broome, died Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. She had been a resident of Ellis Rehabilitation Center for the past few years.
Born June 8, 1926 in the Town of Broome, she was a daughter of Elias A. and Eva M. (Cooke) Dutton.
Grace was a graduate of Middleburgh Central School and lived most of her life in Broome. She married Harold W. Lloyd in 1946 and they operated their dairy farm together all their married life until he predeceased her in 1988. Following his death, she moved to Middleburgh.
While studying accounting, Grace was employed at General Electric in the accounting department. Later she was employed by the Budget Booster in Schoharie for many years, before she became co-owner and subsequently moved to Middleurgh. She was treasurer of the Budget Booster, Inc. and acted as general manager of the Community Booster.
Grace was a member of the Middleburgh Golden Age Club and the Middleburgh Reformed Church.
Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life.
Survivors include her four sons: Harold (Marion) Lloyd of Middleburgh, Donald (Susan) Lloyd of Albany, David (Denise) Lloyd of Middleburgh and Richard Lloyd of Middleburgh; her sister: Esther Drahos of Guilderland; eleven grandchildren: William (Rupa) Lloyd of Gainesville, FL, Daniel Lloyd of Little Falls, NJ, Julie (Ben) Farkas of Albuquerque, NM, Patricia Lloyd of Albany, Deborah (Tom) McGarvey of East Rochester, Christie Lloyd of Schoharie, Jason Lloyd of Middleburgh, Gregory Lloyd of Middleburgh, Jonathan (Sarah) Lloyd of Middleburgh, Melissa Lloyd of Schenectady, and Cassandra Lloyd of Middleburgh; and eight great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Sohan, and Anjali Lloyd, Patrick McGarvey, Jakob Lloyd, Kaitlyn and Tyler Lloyd, and Leo Rosales.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM, Friday, April 15, 2011 at Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh with Rev. Carol Coltrain of the Huntersland United Methodist Church officiating. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home prior to the service from 10:30 to 11:30 AM, Friday. Burial will be in Middleburgh Cemetery.
