Warnerville- Grace W. Clapper, 68, of Warnerville, passed away at her residence on Saturday, September 13, 2014 while her devoted husband, Gary, stood by her side.
Grace was born February 3, 1946 in Richmondville, the daughter of the late Harry and Mildred (Bradley) Wayman.
She was a life time area resident and attended both Richmondville and Sharon Springs Central School. Grace worked for the village of Sharon Springs as a cleaning aid in the village office and library. She also worked in the nursing home in the village as an aid. Most recently, she was a cook for Schoharie County Office of the Aging Meals on Wheels Program in Cobleskill.
Grace loved life and often donated baked goods for fundraisers, and played Mrs. Claus at Christmas events. She collected angels that filled their home. She believed that since her name was Grace, she was close to God.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Walter N. Wainwright; four brothers: David, Fred, Donald, and Bill; and two sisters: Dorothy Wayman and Velma Wayman Cooper.
Survivors include her husband, Gary S. Clapper, whom she married October 23, 1993; her sister: Evelyn Wayman (Ray) Palmatier of Cobleskill; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill where a period of visitation will precede the service from 10 to 11 AM. Officiating will be Rev. Bert Mayne of the Carlisle Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Zion Rural Cemetery, Seward.
