Middleburgh- Mrs. Golden Mae Palmatier, 86, of Cliff Street, died Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Cobleskill Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Palmatier was born January 5, 1922 in Franklinton, Schoharie County, the daughter of Wood and Josephine (Geiger) Hallenbeck .
She was a lifelong area resident, graduating from Middleburgh Central School. Mrs. Palmatier worked for Becker Durham and later retired from SUNY Cobleskill.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Timothy Murphy Post #248, and received the 7th degree, which is the highest, as a member of the Franklinton Grange #1326, where she had also served as chaplain at one time. Mrs. Palmatier was active in the Senior Citizens of Schoharie and a member of the Middleburgh Golden Agers. She enjoyed crafting, crocheting and camping.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Lloyd Palmatier, who died Feb. 13, 1993, and a daughter-in-law, Patricia L.M. (Schweigard) Palmatier.
Survivors include her 2 sons: E. Thomas (Kathy) Palmatier, Sr. of Galway, and Edward Raymond Palmatier of Middleburgh; 2 grandsons: E. Thomas Palmatier, Jr. of Amsterdam and Corey Edward Palmatier of Clifton Park; 1 great-grandson, Corey Edward Palmatier II; 1 step-granddaughter, Cindy Couse of East Greenbush; and a sister, Ilene E. (Raymond) Herrington of Norwich.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church Main St. Middleburgh with Rev. Peter DeBartolo officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday at Palmer & Shaylor, Inc. Funeral Home 134 River St. Middleburgh. Spring interment will be in Middleburgh Cemetery.
