Burnside- Gloria Grace McMaster, born in Brooklyn July 1, 1925, peacefully “went home for Christmas” on December 19, 2021, with her family at home.
She was married to the love of her life, Mac, in 1950 and had a wonderful full life of love, family, traveling and career. She was a graduate of the Drake Business School in Brooklyn and had a long career working for the U.S. government and New York State. She was a statistical typist during WW II at the Army and Air Force Induction Center in NYC and continued that service as a buyer for the commissary at Stewart Air Force base in New Windsor, NY. Gloria retired after 20 years as Family Court Clerk in Orange County, NY and was active in the NAMI, National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, serving as treasurer.
She enjoyed gardening, painting, reading, golfing, traveling and wintering in Florida. She especially loved shopping with her daughters. Gloria had a great sense of humor, and anybody who knew her stayed away from politics if they wanted to win an argument. She was a no-nonsense person, who loved organization, good food and having her family around her.
Gloria was predeceased by her husband, Floyd McMaster, her parents, Eddie and Marie Gaudino, her grandson, Jesse Clayton Schuyler and brother, Joe Gaudino. She leaves behind her loving family who were dedicated to her care, two daughters, Lynda McMaster-Schuyler and husband, John Kohn, Maureen McMaster, her constant companion, grandson, Brady Schuyler (Alaura) and two beautiful great-grandchildren, Madison and Jesse Mac, a sister-in-law, Rose Gaudino, a favorite nephew, Leonard Gaudino and several cousins.
The family appreciates the excellent services of the HRC nurse and aid and HELIOS Hospice.
Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation to be held from 4PM to 6PM on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, with a service immediately following at 6PM at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill. A graveside service will be held at 12PM on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Washingtonville. All are invited to a reception at 1PM Thursday at Stagecoach Inn, Goshen, NY.
Memorial contributions may be made to her favorite charities, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN or NAMI, 99 Pine St., Suite 105, Albany, NY 12207.
