Cobleskill- Gladys W. Righi, 87, of Rose St., died Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.
Born February 18, 1929 in Cobleskill, she was the daughter of Clarence and Ordella (Walker) Wilson.
Gladys was a 1946 graduate of the former Cobleskill Central School and went on to be a telephone operator for NY Telephone in Schenectady until 1984. Then she worked for AT&T and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Gladys retired in 1991.
A woman of great faith, she was a selfless wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, always putting others needs before her own.
She was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Cobleskill where she worked Bingo for twenty years and assisted with counting the church collections.
Gladys married Louis F. Righi on April 6, 1947 and he predeceased her March 5, 2002.
Survivors include her five children: Mary (Norm) St. Germain of Merrimack, NH, Joan (Robert) Van Buren of Cobleskill, Kathleen Righi (Mike Mitchell) of Ballston Spa, John Righi of Madison, OH, and Michael (Karen) Righi of Cobleskill; two granddaughters: Tara Righi and Michelle Mara and her daughter, Cecilia Mara all of Cobleskill; two grandsons: Benjamin Righi of Cobleskill and Daniel (Myria) Righi of OH; her brother: Lewis Wilson of Cobleskill; several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 18, 2016 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 138 Washington Ave., Cobleskill. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the church prior to mass from 10 AM to 11 AM on Monday. Burial will be in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery, Cobleskill.
