Gerald Jones

Cobleskill - Gerald R. Jones, 79, of Lawyersville Road, died Sunday, April 15, 2007 at Samuel Stratton Veterans Administration Hospital in Albany.
Mr. Jones was born November 13, 1927 in Lincoln, Nebraska, the son of Roy H. and Maude G. (Hartford) Jones.
He resided in Cobleskill since the early 1960's after moving from Fort Plain.
He was employed as a truck driver for Fort Edwards Express of Glens Falls for 15 years, retiring in 1979.
Mr. Jones was a United States Marine Veteran serving during World War II until he became disabled. He was a member of the American Legion Post 0057 and the Disabled American Veterans NY Chapter 88.
Survivors include his wife, Margie A. (Hollenbeck) Jones of Cobleskill; 2 daughters: Vickie (Arthur) Chichester and Karen (Milton) Matice all of Cobleskill; a son, Gerald Robert (Sharon) Jones of Elizabethtown, NC; his sister, Donna (Phillip) Timmerman of Virgil, NY; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday,
April 19, 2007 at the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home 171 Elm St. Cobleskill, with Gary Morgan officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home where a memorial service will be conducted at 7:45 PM by the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 88.
Burial will be in Lawyersville Cemetery.
