Howes Cave- Gerald E. Huggins, 81, of Kennedy Road, died Monday, September 28, 2015 at St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Born March 31, 1934 in Waterville, he was the son of the George and Thelma (Jones) Huggins.

Gerry was raised in Norwich and lived most of his adult life in the Cobleskill area where he and his wife raised their sons. He retired from the NY State Police Troop G Headquarters in Warnerville following many years of service.

Gerry enjoyed golfing, hunting, snowmobiling, but most of all, tending to his flower gardens.

He was predeceased by a grandson, Aaron Huggins, who died in 2014, and three siblings: Judy, Gail and Ron.

Survivors include his wife: Sharon (Gregory) Huggins, whom he married December 1, 1956; two sons: Reginald (Andrea) Huggins of Saratoga Springs and Gino (Colleen) Huggins of Cooperstown; four grandchildren: Shane (Jessica) Huggins, Ryan, Cailin and Kevin; Aidan- his great-grandson; and three siblings: Bruce Huggins of Plymouth, NY, Roger Huggins and Beverly Scheuerman, both of Norwich, NY

At the request of the family, services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of his grandson to: Donate Life America, 701 E. Byrd St. 16th Floor, Richmond, VA 23219 (donatelife.net).

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill and Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh.
