Sharon Springs - Mrs. Georgine M. Young, 79, of Hanson Crossing Road, died Saturday, October 6, 2007 at St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Mrs. Young was born May 4, 1928 in Haledon, NJ, the daughter of George and Jennie (Edson) Snyder.
Mrs. Young graduated from Ramsey High School in Ramsey, NJ and also from the 3 year diploma course in Christian Education from the Providence Bible Institute, Providence, RI in 1951.
She married Rev. Merle H. Young June 30, 1951, who survives her along with their daughter, Janice Pahls of Seward, and their son, Dr. Brent Young of Apalachin, NY; 3 sisters: Grace Ullrich of Franklin Lakes, NJ, Marion Schurman of Lake Hopatcong, NJ, and Janet Van Buzekom of Warwick, NJ; her brother, Ernest Snyder of Franklin, NH; 3 granddaughters: Holly Knight, Keri Pahls, and Shannon Young, and 2 grandsons: Ryan of Kevin Young.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 9, at the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home 171 Elm Street Cobleskill. Officiating will be Rev. Terrance Brandt of the First Christian Church of South Valley. Friends may call from 6 to 8 PM on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Slate Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church of South Valley Youth Center Building 1153 State Route 165 Cherry Valley, NY 13320.
