George Pynn

George Henry Joseph Pynn was born in the Bronx, NY on August 20, 1941.  He passed away after a short illness on December 27, 2018 at the young age of 77. George grew up in Bronx, NY and the New Jersey area. He is predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Honnalore Pynn and his sister and brother-in-law Patti and Asa Gould.

At the age of 18, George joined the U.S. Navy. His dream was to be part of the elitists in the Underwater Demolition Team (UDT), better known today as the Navy Seals. He was involved in the Cuban Missile Crisis and spent 15 months overseas. Due to a medical condition, he was honorably discharged and returned home.  Shortly thereafter, he settled in Sharon Springs, NY where he remained for the most of his life.

George loved to work with his hands and spent his life in construction and masonry.  He was a visionary and loved to read his Mother Earth News.  Dilapidated, renovated or newly built, George could always envision a bigger and brighter masterpiece.

He leaves behind many who loved him:  his brother, William; his sons: George, Roy and Billy; and his daughter, Rebecca.  He also leaves behind his step-children:  Kimberly Mattice and Stefan Kovac.  He has several grandchildren: Seth, Nathan,  and Nicholas Pynn, Samantha (Duarte), Alyssa and Stefan Mattice and AlixAnne and Kassidy Kovac.

George's wishes were to be placed at a cemetery with other military veterans so he is inurned at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY.  His remains are placed in Columbarium B, section CB14, grave no. C-10.

Arrangements were entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill, NY.
