George McClure

Cobleskill- George W. McClure, 80, of Woodland Ave. died Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at his home.

George was born on January 18, 1932 in Mount Pleasant, NY to Cornelia (Lewis) and Herbert McClure.

George attended the White Plains High School before enlisting in the United States Air Force and serving his country from 1950-1955.

George and his family moved to Cobleskill in 1972. George owned and operated McClure & Son Electrical Contractors, Inc. until retiring in 1996. He was a member and volunteer of the N. White Plains Volunteer Fire Department prior to moving to Cobleskill. Locally, George was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Cobleskill Exchange Club, Past Director of the Cobleskill Golf & Country Club and served on the Board of Directors of the Bank of Richmondville for 23 years.

In his free time, George enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and spending time with friends and family.

George was predeceased by his parents and a brother: Herbert E. McClure.

George is survived by his wife: Faith Jean (Wilson) McClure, whom he married October 11, 1952; his daughter: Debra Jean (Richard) Shipp of Brentwood, TN; his sons: Dale John (Lucinda) McClure of Howes Cave, NY, Ross Bruce McClure of Colonie, NY; his brothers: Dennis Lewis (Jane) McClure of Lomontville, NY, Bruce Cornelius (Dianne) McClure of Fairfield, CT.; his grandchildren: Beth Marie (Butch) Taylor of E. Worcester, NY, Amy Jean (Donald) France of Middleburgh, NY, Jennifer Ann McClure of Middleburgh, NY, Heather Allison McClure of Mechanicville, NY, Lauren Grace McClure of Wynantskill, NY, Faith Elizabeth Shipp of Brentwood, TN, Daniel Richard Shipp of Brentwood, TN; his great-grandchildren: Megan Lynette Taylor of E. Worcester, NY and Aaron Dennis France of Middleburgh, NY.

At the request of the family, services will be held privately. Cremation will take place at the Vale Crematory in Schenectady, NY.
