Middleburgh- George M. MacGregor, 90, of M.T. Path, passed away at his home on Saturday, September 17, 2016, with his loving wife by his side.
George was born on July 2, 1926 in Winslow, NJ to Bertha (Baker) and George W. MacGregor.
He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1947. George was stationed aboard the LST 137 and deployed with a convoy to Europe to participate in the invasion of Normandy.
George worked as a transportation supervisor for the MTA in New York City before retiring.
George was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking, and was famous for his pickles. George also traveled the country and enjoyed life to the fullest. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 88 in Rotterdam and a member of the New York State, Ohio and National Amphibious Associations.
George was predeceased by his first wife, Rose MacGregor.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Ward) MacGregor of Middleburgh, whom he married on February 17, 2007 and sons: George MacGregor, Jr. of West Babylon, Dennis (Kathy) MacGregor of West Babylon, Brian MacGregor of Middleburgh; granddaughters: Marissa (Aaron) Hershkowitz, Brianna MacGregor; grandson: Daniel MacGregor; great-grandchildren: Gabriella and Alexander Hershkowitz; step-children: Helen (Randall) Timm of Conesville, "Butch" (Terry) Pricolo of Middleburgh, Vinny (Doreen) Pricolo of Berne, Amy (Jeff) Brown of Summit; step-grandchildren: Lindsay (Jason) Merwin, Anthony (Sarah) Pricolo, Vinny Pricolo, Elena Pricolo, MacKenzie Brown, Kendall Brown; step-great-grandchildren: Reagan Pricolo and Finn Merwin.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30AM on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at the Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh with Rev. George Kahl and Rev. Jason Thompson co-officiating. Inurnment will be private. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held from 9:30-10:30AM on Wednesday, prior to the service.
